| My age still says "20" up there, so I guess it's been awhile since I've been on Xanga (writing, anyway -- I still read subs pretty often). Facebook notes is where all the excitement is anyway. But I don't write in that either so... no real news as of late, just trying to finish the semester with a smile on my face. Still got genetics, Chinese, and foundations of biomed... which I should be studying for right now, so I'll leave this entry be for now...

| Scheduling... I managed to snag a seat in organic chem lab, but it's the 7:30am one. I'm hanging on to it just in case, but there's no way I'm taking a 7:30 class, especially an o-chem one. If nothing opens up, I'm stuck at OU for the summer. There are benefits to that, of course! Overall, this semester should be way easier than last.

| So my girlfriend Loan is awesome. She got me an iRiver H10 for Christmas, and I've been messing around with it for the past couple days. Yesterday I put a bunch of music on it, and today I got it working with my car stereo. But wait, Loan also got me a pair of headphones. And a book. Geez I'm spoiled. We had to exchange gifts early cause she's leaving for California on Saturday for like a week. :( I'm so confused cause I want the break to last, and I want her to get back soon.Today I started the ExamKrackers MCAT Physics book. So far just physics I stuff, but I forgot all the formulas, so it's almost like starting over.School-wise I did ok this semester, for taking 19 hours anyway. I got 15 hours of A and 4 hours of B. Comparative vertebrate anatomy is the worst class ever for anyone who doesn't want to spend their days in open lab. Really interesting stuff but really hard too. Evolution was easily my favorite class (just ask Loan). I would recommend anyone to take that course, regardless of your major. The material covered in the course is stuff that anyone needs to know. And take it with Gary Schnell if you can, he really knows his stuff. So I think that about wraps it up for my monthly entry. THE END. | | |
| In the midst of my random thoughts this weekend, I realized that while I have a lot of long term goals that I want to accomplish, I have no real short term goals. This makes it impossible for me to measure how well I'm doing in reaching my goals. For example, I want to eventually get into medical school. My "short term" goal is to make good grades. But that's all I have. I don't have any goals I can use to accomplish that "short term" goal. So that's got to change.
I. Long term goals A. Medical school entrance 1. MCAT a. devote a certain amount of time each week to prepare for April MCAT b. increase the amount of time spent preparing once the semester is over 2. Volunteer work and clinical experience a. find a place to volunteer or work at, have all details worked out during winter break, and begin working at start of spring semester b. have a working resumé by winter break 1. sit down some time before winter break to document experiences so far for resumé 3. Letters of recommendation a. start looking out for professors who I would want a letter from and develop relationships with them (no, not like that) 4. Grades a. create detailed schedule on when to study or work on homework b. allot time each day for schoolwork B. Lead healthier lifestyle 1. Eat cooked food more times a week than fast food 2. Go to gym at least four times a week 3. Get at least eight hours(!) of sleep a night C. Tau Kappa Omega 1. Devote certain amount of time per week to accomplish various goals set
Next time I'll come up with a detailed daily schedule.
